Stories have the ability to transport, enrapture, and linger long after they've been told. For me, painting and photography have been a window into these snippets of larger stories that make up my life, and my imagination.
When I travel I make sure that I am learning and engaging with the places and people who live there. It's the details of the environment, individuals, food, buildings, and moments that I find captivating and beautiful. There's a story in that captured image that holds a memory for the artist, and some mystery for the viewer. I like that photos have the power to record history (memories, stories), no matter the scale of the event. And I like how paint gives me the power to interpret and render stories in my own style.
My inspiration draws on elements from my travels throughout Asia and nature. Interest in the cultural and Spiritual practices of these countries, the architecture, religions, history, and folklore are anchors for how I create my own art.
